AT&T TV Now is hiking up the prices yet again! If you feel like we've had this "conversation" before, it's because we have.
The company has decided that the newly introduced plans - Plus and Max - weren't expensive enough upon their introduction earlier this year, so they decided up to push the prices even higher. Plus will go from $50 to $65 per month, while Max will go from $70 to $80 per month. The new prices are supposed to go into effect starting with next month, Bloomberg reports.
Taking into consideration that the bundles they introduced don't have that many channels, to begin with, with Plus featuring over 45 networks, including HBO and Max featuring over 60 channels, including HBO and Cinemax, the prices are already quite high.
Back in spring, AT&T dropped the original five bundles DirecTV Now (now AT&T TV Now) had and introduced Plus and Max. A few days later the original five bundles came back to the platform with new names and prices that had pretty much doubled.
Then, AT&T got into trouble because investors accused them of lying about the real number of subscribers to AT&T TV Now. That's because last year, over 200,000 subscribers left the platform and the situation is only getting worse. The live TV service lost an extra 168,000 subscribers in the second quarter of the year alone.
AT&T estimated huge losses in TV customers of about 1.1 million in the third quarter of the year, and those numbers don't even cover AT&T TV Now.
“We’re adjusting our pricing to reflect the cost to deliver content to our customers,” the company said in a statement, trying to justify such a price hike for a service whose quality simply does not justify paying so much.
