Aquaman is one of the main members of DC’s Justice League and is the king of Atlantis. He can connect with ocean animals and possesses super strength. He can also travel underwater at great speeds. The character has appeared in five DCEU films, out of which, two have him in solo lead roles.

The DCEU doesn’t exist anymore, with James Gunn taking over to start the DCU, but many fans still reminisce about Jason Momoa’s portrayal of the underwater superhero. Also, Momoa playing Lobo in the DCU means that he probably won’t return as Aquaman/ Arthur Curry.

As such, fans want to know how to watch the existing Aquaman movies in order. In this article, we will reveal the correct order to watch all the films with the character of Aquaman in them.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Where to Watch: Max (US)
Cast: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, and Jason Momoa

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a film that still divides critics and fans almost a decade after its release. Directed by Zack Snyder, the film served as a sequel to Man of Steel. The main plot of the film centers around Henry Cavill’s Superman facing off against Ben Affleck’s Batman.

This is also the first film where Jason Momoa appears as Aquaman. In the movie, Wonder Woman watches video clips of the meta-human sightings. We see the Flash speeding in a store, the experiment that created Cyborg, and also an underwater video with Aquaman’s sighting. The role was inconsequential, but it introduced the character.

Justice League (2017)

Where to Watch: Max (US)
Cast: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, and Jason Momoa

DCEU’s Justice League was a team-up film that featured Aquaman in a much more prominent role. He helps the team fight against Steppenwolf and cracks jokes when the script demands it. Justice League wasn’t well-received by fans or critics alike. It holds a 39% critics score and 67% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)

Where to Watch: Max (US)
Cast: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Willem Dafoe

Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which is the director’s cut of Justice League, also featured Jason Momoa as the underwater king. This time as well he was a part of the supporting cast, but his character was much more fleshed out. Also, fans got to see him interact with Nuidis Vulko and Mera, which helped give the character more depth.

Aquaman (2018)

Where to Watch: Max (US)
Cast: Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Willem Dafoe

The Aquaman movie sees Jason Momo as the titular superhero in a solo lead role for the first time in the DCEU. The film picks up after Justice League (2017) and sees Arthur Curry try to stop his step-brother Orm from unleashing hell on the surface world.

With Nuidis Vulko and Mera’s help, he also fights for his birthright as the rightful king of Atlantis. The film fleshes out Atlantian culture, its history, as well as other underwater kingdoms really well.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)

Where to Watch: Max (US)
Cast: Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom serves as the sequel to the first Aquaman film. In the movie, Arthur Curry is married to Mera and they have a son. Life as the king of Atlantis seems to be going well for him. But soon, one of his enemies emerges with a powerful ancient weapon that can wreak havoc on the world.

To stop this threat, Aquaman joins hands with his stepbrother Orm. While it doesn’t quite reach the highs of the first one, it’s still an enjoyable film. It also marked the end of the DCEU.
