One of the worst things when it comes to package delivery is the fact that you need to be at home, waiting for a courier. What if you are at work and there is no one at home to receive it? Amazon figured out another solution.
After introducing Amazon Key, an in-home delivery service, Amazon is moving on with their idea of fast delivery. As you might have guessed, Key In-car delivery service works the similar way. The courier is able to deliver your package in your car while you are out there doing something else. Once he arrives near your car, you will get the notification, and after you approve it, a courier will be able to open the trunk and put the package inside.
Clearly, the security is a major concern here so the installation of this system is available only on 2015 GM-made or Volvo cars. In addition, the courier will never get a key to your vehicle or any special code whatsoever. They can only get inside once you give them a permission for that specific delivery. The company also checks if you've got the right package and if the location of the delivery matches so that there isn't much room for confusion.
According to the Engadget, Amazon Key In-Car service is available across 37 cities in the United States. The company's main aim is to create the fastest delivery system on the market and that, as it happens, includes the cases when you are not in the comfort of your home. With other large companies like Walmart trying to speed up their own deliveries, it begs the question if one day we are all gonna receive packages this way.
