Amazon released its Hub Lockers service for more than half a million US citizens. The service is similar to Amazon Lockers but will be exclusive to residents of their respective buildings only. The e-commerce giant has released the service in San Francisco, New York and a handful of other locations. More locations will be added as the service seems to be in high demand.
Many apartments have signed up for Amazon Hub to make receiving packages easier than ever. With many customers not being able to pick up deliveries on time due to work restrictions, the service allows them to pick up packages from their respective lockers anytime after a delivery is made. The best part about the locker service is that Hub lockers are not restricted to the e-commerce store’s purchases. They can be used to receive packages from friends, family and even other websites.
Amazon’s Pickup Director Patrick Supanc stated that the e-commerce giant is trying to make delivery easy for customers and with years of expertise in locker systems. He believes that the new service can offer a single, convenient location for users to collect packages and it also makes the life of property managers easier.
The lockers are operable using touchscreen panels which are passcode protected to prevent thefts. To acquire a Hub Locker for your building you need to contact your property manager or landlord. The availability of the service is restricted to only a few parts of the US right now with expansion plans being executed in full swing. The service is a paid investment, and the cost of the service varies depending on the number of lockers required.
