What is the plot of Amandaland 2025?

Amandaland picks up after Amanda’s divorce, forcing her to leave her comfortable life in Chiswick and downsize to South Harlesden—rebranded by estate agents as “SoHa,” though Amanda isn’t convinced. With her teenage children, Manus and Georgie, now in secondary school, she must navigate the new challenges of modern motherhood, from teenage drinking and fake Instagram accounts to eco-anxiety.

Adding to her struggles, Amanda’s mother, Felicity, is ever-present, offering a steady stream of backhanded compliments and veiled criticisms. Their co-dependent dynamic brings both tension and comedy as Felicity refuses to acknowledge her own loneliness.

Meanwhile, Amanda’s longtime sidekick Anne is reluctantly pulled back into her orbit, once again catering to Amanda’s whims and helping her find her footing among the parents at her children’s new school.

With its sharp wit, stellar cast, and a new setting, Amandaland promises to deliver the same biting humor that made Motherland a fan favorite—this time, with Amanda front and center in a whole new world.

Behind the Scenes

The six-part comedy series Amandaland is written by Motherland co-creators Holly Walsh and Helen Serafinowicz, along with Barunka O’Shaughnessy and Laurence Rickard. Produced by Sharon Horgan’s company Merman, the series is directed by Alyssa McClelland and was commissioned by Tanya Qureshi, Head of Comedy at the BBC.

Merman’s Sharon Horgan, Clelia Mountford, Helen Serafinowicz, and others serve as executive producers, with Lionsgate handling worldwide distribution. The Series Producer is Tim Mannion.

Horgan expressed excitement to Radio Times about revisiting Amanda’s story, saying: "I was genuinely sad having to say goodbye to Motherland… So it was a real thrill to get to pick up the further adventures of Amanda and Anne, not to mention Felicity." Mountford echoed the sentiment, calling it a joy to work with returning cast members Lucy Punch, Joanna Lumley, and Phillipa Dunne.

Meanwhile, Qureshi noted the continued appeal of Motherland, adding: "We’re so pleased we are carrying on with the story, taking the characters in a new direction and to a different postcode." (via Stylist)
