The announcement sent fans into a frenzy, especially as Robert’s entrance is like a nod to his sister Bindi Irwin, who won the Mirrorball in 2015. If this reveal is any indication, Season 34 is gearing up to be bigger and bolder than ever.

Dancing with the Stars features celebrities teamed up with professional dancers as they compete in weekly dance-offs. Couples perform choreographed routines to impress both the judges and the audience. Scores from the judges are combined with viewer votes to determine who stays and who goes. Each week, the pair with the lowest combined score is eliminated, leading up to one final duo crowned as champions.
Robert Irwin is the first celebrity confirmed for Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars. The 21-year-old wildlife conservationist and photographer made the surprise announcement during Hulu’s first-ever Get Real! event in Beverly Hills.
Appearing shirtless with a snake around his neck — a nod to his recent Bonds campaign — Irwin said in a video shared by Entertainment Tonight Instagram handle, “All I can say is, Crikey!”
At the event, Irwin shared his excitement about joining the show, recalling how he once watched his sister Bindi Irwin compete on DWTS and dreamed of doing the same. “I cannot tell you what an honor, what a privilege it is to be joining this season,” he said. “I am over the moon. Let's do this,” he added.
Robert Irwin, who co-hosted Wild But True and starred on Crikey! It's the Irwins, is the son of the late Steve Irwin. He works alongside his mom Terri and sister Bindi at the Australia Zoo. While he now steps into the ballroom spotlight, his sister famously won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015 with partner Derek Hough.
The full cast lineup and pro partners for Season 34 will be revealed later.
Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro are back to host Dancing with the Stars 2025, with Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough returning to the judges' panel.
