The trailer begins with Melissa Roxburgh's Rebecca "Bex" Henderson mentioning a serial killer, Richard Harris, who was executed in 2017. Her boss demands that she profile the man. To this Rebecca curiously asks, "You want me to profile a dead serial killer. Why?"

Co-showrunners JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn serve as writers and executive producers for The Hunting Party. Bailey, who created the series, wrote the pilot and oversees production alongside Coburn. This marks Bailey’s first series order under his Universal Television (UTV) deal, which began in 2022.
Thor Freudenthal directs and executive produces the pilot, continuing as a producer throughout the series. Keto Shimizu also joins as a writer and executive producer. Produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, The Hunting Party promises a compelling new addition to the crime procedural genre.
