Sony launched a new app that allows you to play your PS4 games on the go. The new “Remote Play” app works a lot like Steam Link that was launched last year, but it is exclusive to iOS only for now. You can use your iPhone or iPad to stream games from your PS4 and use on-screen controls for playing your favorite games.

To use Sony’s new app, you need to update your console to v6.50 and also install the Remote Play app from the App Store. Simply sign into your Sony account on both devices and pair them using the on-screen. Both devices need to be on a Wi-Fi network as it does not work on LTE or 5G yet. Once you are connected, you will be able to see your PS4 home screen on your phone or iPad along with a number of touch controls on-screen.

The new Remote Play App not only lets you stream games but also offers in-game chat functionality using your microphone and speakers. The on-screen buttons mimic the DualShock controller perfectly, and you also get to use the Share, Options and the circular PS button on-screen.

This is not the first time that such an app has been released. Sony had previously tinkered with the “PlayLink” app, but it was far from being a dedicated streaming app with on-screen controls. There are third-party apps available that allow users to play their PS4 games on iOS, but all of them are paid solutions. Sony’s new Remote Play is completely free and is now available for download for iOS users.
