Netflix’s thrilling new film Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins races to an explosive conclusion filled with double-crosses, secret switcheroos, and unexpected romance — all centered around the priceless Red Sun diamond.Â
At the start of the movie, we meet Rehan Roy, a master thief with unmatched skills of stealth and deception. When he reconnects with his estranged brother, Rehan learns that their father — who once disowned him for stealing — is now in deep trouble thanks to a scam orchestrated by the ruthless mafia boss Rajan Aulakh.
Forced into a corner, Rehan agrees to help steal the legendary Red Sun diamond to save his father, even if it means working with the very man who set him up. Initially, Rehan plans a classic art gallery heist with the help of his trusted associate Batliwala. However, when Detective Vikram Patel starts closing in, Rehan pivots to a far more daring plan: hijacking the diamond mid-flight during a commercial trip.
Alongside Rajan and Farah (Rajan’s wife, with whom Rehan shares growing romantic tension), Rehan manages to pull off the impossible — but not without a few twists.
Rehan’s genius lies in planning several steps ahead. While on the plane, he uses a chaotic distraction to hide in the cargo hold and swap the genuine Red Sun for a perfect fake. Unknown to Rajan and the dangerous gangster Moosa, they’re both chasing after a counterfeit while Rehan quietly secures the real diamond.
But that's not all — anticipating Rajan’s inevitable betrayal, Rehan had secretly arranged for Batliwala to smuggle the real Red Sun out of Istanbul separately, ensuring that even in a worst-case scenario, the diamond would never fall into the wrong hands. Thus, while Rajan believes he’s sitting atop a fortune, he’s actually holding a worthless replica.
Back at Rajan’s safehouse, the betrayal comes to light. Rehan confronts Rajan, revealing that the diamond Moosa bought was a fake — revenge for threatening his family. A brutal fight erupts between the two, but Rehan ultimately overpowers Rajan, chaining him to a pillar with leaking gas pipes surrounding him.
Faced with certain death at the hands of Moosa or by his own hand, Rajan chooses a fiery end. Lighting a cigarette left mockingly by Rehan, he ignites the room in a devastating explosion, seemingly ending his story in flames.
Meanwhile, Rehan and Farah escape to a peaceful coastal town. Rehan proposes a simple life together, hinting at settling down after years of running. However, Farah knows better — the thrill of the heist still lingers in Rehan's blood. They share a bittersweet laugh, realizing that though love may anchor him for a while, the chase will always call him back.
As the sun sets, Detective Vikram Patel remains on the hunt, suggesting that Rehan’s story is far from over — and another daring chapter might soon begin.
