Reacher season 3 has concluded, but fans want more! The Alan Ritchson-led series has become a phenomenon, and people are curious to know when Reacher season 4 will premiere. But the question is: Is another season even in the works? Or was season 3 the last?

Season 3 dealt with Susan Duffy, a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent who teamed up with Reacher to find out more information about a narcotics smuggling operation run by Zachary Beck, a luxury rug importer. But Reacher also wanted to find out about Xavier Quinn, one of Beck’s people, who was involved in the murder of an Army investigator years ago.

The finale tied up some threads and left some dangling, presumably so that the story can be continued in the next season. So, is season 4 happening? In this article, we will discuss everything we know about it.

Release date and Where to Watch

Reacher will be coming back for season 4 since Prime Video announced the renewal back in October 2024. Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Television Vernon Sanders said about the renewal in a press statement (via Deadline):

Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season.”

The renewal also confirmed that Nick Santora and Alan Ritchson will be back for the next installment. As for when viewers can watch season 4, it might premiere in the first half of 2026

What will be the plot of Season 4?

At the time of writing, an official synopsis hasn’t been released. However, since there are 29 Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child, the producers will be spoilt for choice regarding which plot they want to adapt. Season 1 was based on 1997’s Killing Floor, the first book in the series.

The next season was adapted from 2007’s Bad Luck and Trouble, the 11th book in the series, while season 3 was taken from 2003’s Persuader, the 7th book. So, there’s no way to predict as of now which book will be adapted.

Alan Ritchson, in an interview (via Forbes) revealed how the makers choose which book to adapt. He revealed, “We definitely talk about what book to do. There are guys like [producer] Don Granger, who has been a part of this world [a long time]. He optioned the rights and started working with Lee early on, so he's got his favorites and he's got his order of things … [Also, Season 3 director] Sam Hill is a monster Reacher fan and has a lot of influence and he's got books that he'd like to do, and I’ve got mine.”

However, the author, Lee Child, revealed in an interview with Business Insider that he wants to see an adaptation of the 2017’s The Midnight Line, which is the 22nd book in the Jack Reacher series. He said:

The book that I am proudest of is The Midnight Line, which is about the opioid crisis, written from a very sympathetic point of view, from the addict's point of view. And I do not know how that would play on TV, but that would be one that I'd be interested to see.”

There are also rumors that based on the Dominique flashback scenes seen in season 3, the 19th book in the series, called Personal, might be adapted next. In the book, the US military reaches out to Reacher when the French President gets shot. But in France, Reacher realizes that the case has become really personal.

Will Jack Reacher be in Neagley?

There’s no official confirmation about whether or not Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher will be in the spin-off show about Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley, the US Army 110th MP Special Investigations Unit. She has played a major supporting role in all three seasons of the show till now.

However, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched if he does pop in for a couple of episodes. While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, production is underway. In February, Sten posted some behind-the-scenes pictures from the filming of Neagley. Check them out below:

Will There be a Season 5 of Reacher?

At the time of writing, Reacher hasn’t been renewed for season 5. However, considering the strong ratings from fans and positive reviews from critics, it's possible that a season 5 renewal news might arrive soon.
