Episode five of Daredevil: Born Again may not have been the most action-packed installment of the season, but it delivered one of the most intriguing MCU connections yet. While Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) herself does not appear, her presence is felt through a surprising cameo—her father, Yusuf Khan (Mohan Kapur), shares a cryptic update about her whereabouts.

During a bank visit, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) meets with Yusuf, who works as an assistant bank manager. As they chat, Yusuf proudly shows off a Ms. Marvel Funko Pop! figure and casually mentions, “My daughter is in California visiting some friends, La La Land as they say.” The reference is subtle, but for MCU fans, it could be a major hint about the future of the Young Avengers.

A clue About the Young Avengers in Daredevil: Born Again?

The last time we saw Kamala Khan was in The Marvels, where she sought out Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) to recruit her for a new team. While Yusuf doesn’t specify which “friends” Kamala is visiting in California, many fans speculate she could be meeting with Cassie Lang, America Chavez, or Riri Williams.

Marvel has been quietly assembling its next generation of heroes, introducing characters like Kate, Cassie, America, and Billy Maximoff. Though an official Young Avengers project hasn’t been confirmed, reports suggest Marvel is shifting away from the original name in favor of a Champions Disney+ series.

Could this also Tease the West Coast Avengers?

Another possibility is that Kamala’s trip to California hints at the West Coast Avengers, a team founded by Hawkeye in the comics. With Earth’s current Avengers scattered and groups like the Eternals missing in action, the MCU may be positioning its next generation of heroes to take on a more prominent role ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars.

Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala, has expressed interest in seeing her character interact with other young heroes, saying in an interview with Screen Rant, “I want to see Kamala interact with America. I want to see Kamala interact with Patriot, I don't know. Just all these random people. And so yeah, I think there's so many different avenues you could take with this."

What’s next?

Whether this is a tease for the Young Avengers, Champions, or West Coast Avengers, it’s clear that Marvel is laying the groundwork for its next big superhero team. While Daredevil: Born Again keeps its focus on Matt Murdock’s journey, this subtle connection to Kamala Khan ensures that the larger MCU narrative is still in motion. As the pieces continue to fall into place, fans can only hope that more upcoming projects will shed light on the future of the Young Avengers.
