Ted Lasso fans, it’s time to rejoice! After months of speculation, the verdict is here: Ted Lasso season 4 is happening. Jason Sudeikis will return to play the lead on the Apple TV+ football show. Season 3 of Ted Lasso wrapped up most of the storylines of the show. We saw AFC Richmond rising through the Premiere League, and then Ted returned to Kansas to be with his son. The season ended with AFC Richmond planning to open a women’s team. So, what’s next?
Sudeikis revealed on Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights that his character would be coaching a women’s team in the new season. He said:
“We’re writing Season 4 now, that’s the official word. Ted’s coaching a women’s team.”
This will certainly be a major change from what the show has been centered on till now. But many fans are excited to see how the show handles it. Also, there are rumors that we could see high-profile names from women’s football make cameo appearances in the show.
Fans of Arsenal WFC are hoping to see their co-captain, and England Women’s team captain, Leah Williamson, make a cameo.
Apple TV hasn’t confirmed which cast members will return for the next season. But it is rumored that Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift will reprise their roles. Jason Sudeikis said in a press statement (via Variety):
“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap. In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
Jack Burditt (Nobody Wants This, Modern Family, 30 Rock) will be an executive producer for season 4 under his new overall deal with Apple TV+. Jason Sudeikis will also executive produce alongside Brendan Hunt, Toheeb Jimoh, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel.
Goldstein is attached to write and executive produce along with Leanne Bowen. Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh are writers and producers on the new season, with Sasha Garron co-producing. Julia Lindon is also a writer, and Dylan Marron is a story editor.
