Control Freak: All About the Horror Movie with an Itch that can’t be Scratched

Kelly Marie Tran is back on screen, but this time in a horror movie about a woman with an unscratchable itch. In Control Freak, Tran’s character Valerie will have to battle her heavy workload along with an itch that refuses to go away no matter what she does. 

However, soon she will realize that this itch on the back of her head isn’t normal or likely from this world at all. Directed by Shal Ngo, Control Freak is based on his short film called Control. This movie was featured in Hulu's Bite Size Halloween Season 2, an anthology series that showcases short films from up-and-coming filmmakers.

What is the plot of Control Freak?

Control Freak follows Kelly Marie Tran’s Valerie, a motivational speaker who is successful in her career. However, she doesn’t like taking a break from work to relax and rewind. One day, she suddenly finds that there’s an itch on the back of her head that just won’t go away. No matter how much she scratches or ignores it, it just stays there. 

But soon, she finds out that this itch is something more than what it appears to be. Now, Valerie will have to battle a parasitic demon that has roots in her homeland in Vietnam. The film brings a fresh perspective to the horror genre. Labeled as a psychological thriller, the movie will deal with themes of cultural identity, work burnout, and more.
