HomeTeamNS, a non-profit for the Singapore Police Force (SPF), has been hit by a ransomware attack. The association that also serves the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) confirmed that a cyber incident was discovered on February 25.

It is not clear if any data was accessed by hackers. The impacted servers had current and former employees’ data stored in them.

Information related to vehicles used by members and affiliates is predicted to be stolen. The cybersecurity team investigating the incident took the affected servers offline and isolated them from the IT network.

HomeTeamNS stated, “At this time, there is no evidence of data extraction…” Although the possibility of data loss could not be ruled out, ongoing investigations did not find any evidence to prove data exfiltration by the presently unknown hackers.

HomeTeamNS, which serves the National Servicemen (NSmen) and their families, is in the process of alerting those who were likely impacted by the ransomware attack. The organization runs four clubhouses at Balestier, Bukit Batok, Khatib and Bedok.

Over 200,000 members of the NSmen participate in various activities hosted by the HomeTeamNS. The association recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

We approached the organization for a statement and will update this report after receiving a response.

No ransomware group has claimed the HomeTeamNS cyber attack at the time of publishing.
