Lucasfilm is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith with a special theatrical re-release. The beloved prequel trilogy’s final chapter is returning to the big screen for a limited time, giving fans a chance to relive Anakin Skywalker’s tragic fall on the big screen like never before.
Revenge of the Sith will hit select U.S. and international theaters on Friday, April 25, 2025, for a one-week limited run.
The event will also introduce the film in 4DX for the first time, offering an immersive viewing experience with motion-synchronized seats and over 21 special effects. From the intense space battles over Coruscant to the fiery duel between Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) on Mustafar, the 4DX format aims to enhance the action-packed spectacle.
To commemorate the anniversary, renowned graphic artist Matt Ferguson has designed a brand-new poster for the re-release, featuring Darth Vader’s looming mask over Anakin, the Coruscant skyline, and the fateful Mustafar duel. “The space battle and Mustafar elements are all really complicated, with way more ships and explosions than on my other Star Wars posters,” Ferguson told StarWars.com.
For those who can’t make it to theaters, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is currently available for streaming on Disney+, where fans can watch the entire Skywalker saga.
The film, written and directed by George Lucas, chronicles the fall of the Jedi Order and Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader under Emperor Palpatine’s influence. With its return to theaters and availability on Disney+, Revenge of the Sith remains a defining chapter in the Star Wars saga, allowing fans to experience the epic story both on the big screen and at home.
