The finale of High Potential season 1 set up a new mystery- someone is taunting Morgan and testing her logical problem-solving skills by putting multiple people in danger. The team had to rescue Spencer, Sierra, and Oz by solving a variety of puzzles.
That’s not all. The villain even met Morgan while she was grocery shopping and left her the next clue- a card game. Season 2 will obviously disclose who this man is. The team has found out that his name is David. But is that the truth or a red herring? In an interview with TV Guide, executive producer and showrunner Todd Harthan revealed more details about this mystery man.
He said, “A lot of criminals think they're smarter than detectives, FBI, CIA, whatever it may be. And if you think you're the smartest person in the room, sometimes you want to test that.”
The showrunner explained that the twist here was that their “villain didn't know, when they engaged with Major Crimes, that there was this unicorn in the bullpen that was going to get their attention over the course of these games they're playing.”
Regarding how this mystery will unfold in season 2, Harthan said, “I think when we really get under the hood of what makes this villain tick and why they're doing it, which is the early part of Season 2, we're going to answer some of those questions.”
The finale also revealed that Roman is alive and season 2 will definitely uncover more about what happened to the father of Morgan’s first child. The showrunner said, “I think the Roman story is going to bloom in Season 2. In this little villain story, there's some twists and turns coming. I love to go, 'What do I expect if I was an audience member?' I like to really turn the dials and give you something unexpected, so I'm excited for all of it."
Viewers have caught onto the will-they-won’t-they dynamic that Karadec and Morgan have. There seem to be clear feelings from Karadec’s side because he was speechless when she entered the police gala in her pink dress. He also asked for a dance and offered to buy her a drink.
But Morgan seems to be still caught up on Tom. Also, we now know that Roman is still alive. So, his possible resurgence in season 2 could mean that Karadec and Morgan won’t be getting together that fast.
The returning cast includes:
A trailer hasn’t been released yet and it will be quite some time before we get to see something about it. But we will update this space as soon as there are any updates.
High Potential was created and executive produced for television by Drew Goddard. Sarah Esberg also serves as an executive producer alongside him. Katilin Olson is a producer on the show.
