FBI: International’s midseason finale showed Special Agent Cameron Vo getting shot. The episode ended on a cliffhanger as it wasn’t shown whether she had survived the ordeal or not. Also, Greg Csonka confessed to the murder of FBI Special Agent Mike Brooks, who was Wes’s partner.
Csonka was also found guilty of multiple crimes, and everyone thought it would be his end. However, the team underestimated Csonka who had an escape plan and fled when the police were transporting him. Fans had to wait six long weeks to find out if Vo would survive the bullet wound or if Csonka would get caught. Finally, the answers have been revealed!
In this article we will discuss Vo’s fate, what happened in the episode, and what’s next.
In the winter premiere of FBI: International, it was shown that Vo was stable but she had suffered extensive damage to the soft tissue near her collarbone and the risk of infection was high. So, if an infection did take hold, it would spell the end of the Agent.
On the other hand, the flyteam found out that Csonka had fled to Paris. Also, this wasn’t the first time he had fled. Once when he was found guilty in an LA Court, he went to Las Vegas where he laid low till his case died down. After that he left for Mexico.
Csonka ultimately wanted to go to a country with nonextradition laws. So, Paris was just a stop on the way. However, when his friends refused to hide him, he killed one of them. He also threatened to kill more if he wasn’t hidden. That’s not all. He also tried to confuse the Americans by paying his girlfriend Valerie Marez to do his bidding.
The feds wanted Csonka’s address, and Valerie gave them one. They went there and then Valerie activated the trap- Special Agent Raines was captured and Csonka used him as hostage bait. In return, he wanted to escape and promised that Raines would be unharmed if they gave him five hours.
The team couldn’t give him five hours and they couldn’t afford to let him realize that as well. So, the team pivoted to Valerie. She was a French Algerian who was in the country on a Visa and didn’t have full French citizenship.
The team threatened her Visa and so she helped them pin down Csonka’s location. But by the time the feds got there, he had left with Raines. However, the team caught a member of the Belmondo Crime Family, whose head was killed by Csonka. He had no loyalty to the criminal and revealed that Csonka was heading to the airport.
He also let the team know that Csonka was going to pretend to be a federal agent to escape detection and that having another federal agent (Raines) there would help. The feds shut down the airport, but Csonka was informed once again, and so he pivoted to his Plan B.
Raines and Csonka got into a fight over a gun. This scuffle resulted in the death of the man driving the car. When Csonka was certain that he couldn't overpower Raines, he fled into the crowd, but not before Raines shot him in the leg. He then informed his team about it which made Wes follow him.
Wes found Csonka on the bridge where when he tried to arrest him. But Csonka tried to go for the gun. This made Wes kill him, something which he didn’t regret. This also ensured that Raines as well as Vo were now safe. In the end, the team had a drink before returning to Budapest. However, it isn’t known who warned Csonka regarding the airport shutdown.
In an interview with TV Line, Vo’s actor, Vinessa Vidotto, revealed what’s next for the show. She said that there will be a time jump. Vidotto said, “There’s going to be a time jump. With this show and with what the Fly Team is, we move very fast and you’ve got to move on… Vo is also just hungry. She can’t sit around, she wants to help in any way she can. She feels like maybe she’s got to prove herself again.”
She also revealed that even more bigger things are yet to come in Europe. The actor said, “Just that it’s bigger and better. I know every show says that, and everybody says that, but I kid you not it gets bigger and crazier, because it’s FBI: International. And once you go big, you can’t go smaller. And there’s just so much opportunity out here in Europe to do wild, crazy storylines.”
FBI: International airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS. You can stream it on Paramount Plus and Peacock as well.
