Younger follows Sutton Foster’s Liza Miller, a divorced single mother who pretends to be 26 years old to get a job after finding out that workplaces are hostile to women in their 40s. To this day, Younger holds a Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 97% and an audience score of 76%.

After years, the show has finally come to an end. But is it finally over after season 7? Or is there hope of one more? In this article, we will discuss whether the show will get a season 8 as well as find out who Lisa ended up with.

Is Younger Renewed for Season 8?

Younger has ended with season 7, but is there a possibility of it getting another season? For one, it’s important to note that TV Land didn’t cancel Younger. After all, it was the longest-running scripted show on the channel. It ended because the creator of the show, Darren Star, had planned for the seventh season to be the last one.

So, Younger hasn’t been renewed for season 8 and it looks like it won’t be. Also, season 7 being the conclusion makes sense because there was only so much that could be done with the theme of Liza pretending to be way younger than she actually is. Overall, it was time to end the show.

What was Liza and Josh’s fate in the end?

For seven seasons, fans have wanted to know if Liza and Josh are gonna get together or not. In the final season, Liza and Josh reunite but they don’t get the happy ending that fans have always wanted. The former’s boyfriend Charles proposes to her. However, Liza declines and this leads to their breakup.

On the other hand, till now, Josh has been with Hillary Duff's Kelsey, Phoebe Dynevor's Clare, and Ana Villafañe’s KT. The last relationship with KT also goes nowhere and this leads him to meeting Liza again at the bar at the end of the show. They have drinks and talk but before much can be said, the screen goes dark.

The ending is left ambiguous and the will-they-won’t-they plotline isn’t resolved at all. In an interview with Variety, Sutton Foster revealed that even though Josh and Charles both made sense for Liza to end up with, she did prefer the former.

The actress said, “I think it ended the right way. But if it ended with Liza and Charles, that would have felt right, too. It was amazing because I think that’s why it was able to sustain for so long. Both options made sense, but I think for the truth of the show, I think Josh — that’s what the show is ultimately all about. Even now, I can’t look back and pick a team. I believe that it ended the way that it should have. I think she always truly loved Josh.”

As for the finale scene, Foster teased, “We’ll have to see when we do the reunion in five years. [Laughs] Nico and I have so much love and respect for one another, and it was Nico’s last scene so he was a bawling mess.”

She also thinks that the showrunner intentionally left it open-ended. In the end, it’s up to the viewers to decide what they think happens.
