A surprising casting update has emerged for Ahsoka season two following the heartbreaking loss of Ray Stevenson in 2023. Stevenson’s powerful portrayal of Baylan Skoll captivated fans, leaving many wondering how the show would handle his character’s future. Now, Lucasfilm has reportedly found a new actor, Rory McCann, to take on the role, ensuring Baylan’s journey continues in the Star Wars universe.

This decision has sparked excitement and speculation, as fans eagerly anticipate how Rory McCann will honor Stevenson’s legacy while bringing fresh depth to the mysterious Baylan Skoll. Stay tuned as we uncover what this means for Ahsoka season two and share the latest updates!

Who Replaced Late Ray Stevenson in Ahsoka Season 2?

Scottish actor Rory McCann, best known for his role as Sandor Clegane (The Hound) on Game of Thrones, has been cast to replace the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season two. Stevenson tragically passed away in May 2023, just months before the premiere of the show's first season.

McCann, a close friend of Stevenson, reportedly accepted the role with the blessing of Stevenson’s widow. Known for his commanding presence and memorable roles in Gladiator II, Hot Fuzz, and Jumanji: The Next Level, McCann brings a rich acting legacy to the character of Baylan Skoll. The recasting honors Stevenson's impact on the Star Wars universe, with cast and crew expressing their deep admiration for the late actor.

What to Expect from the new Baylan Skoll Actor?

Skoll, introduced in season one, is a former Jedi who abandoned the Order after the fall of the Republic, now a mercenary wielding a red lightsaber alongside his apprentice, Shin Hati (played by Ivanna Sakhno). The character’s layered, enigmatic nature and commanding presence made him a standout, and fans are eager to see how the story unfolds under McCann's portrayal.

Known for his ability to bring complex anti-heroes to life, McCann’s history as The Hound—an outwardly gruff yet deeply human character—positions him as a fitting choice for Baylan. While Baylan is distinct, both characters share a depth that allows for nuanced storytelling, and fans can expect McCann to bring his signature gravitas to the role.

When is Ahsoka Season 2 Releasing?

Production for Ahsoka season two is expected to begin in April, with a potential release in 2026, though no official date has been announced. Season one, currently streaming on Disney+, features a talented cast including Rosario Dawson, Lars Mikkelsen, Ivanna Sakhno, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Diana Lee Inosanto.

Written by Dave Filoni, the series earned critical acclaim, winning the 2024 Emmy Award for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes and receiving nominations in four additional categories.
