What is the plot of Shrinking Season 3?

No plot synopsis has been released yet, but looking at the season 2 finale of Shrinking, it’s possible to predict where the storylines of multiple characters might be heading into in season 3. Jimmy’s journey of healing and emotional work will probably continue. Maybe he will help Louis tackle his guilt over ruining a family. 

Regarding Alice, she’s going to college. So the question is- will she choose one closer home or move away? The decision will affect Jimmy for sure. As for Alice herself, she has grown into a young woman who will surely have her share of hardships growing up. 

Paul's Parkinson's disease isn’t getting better. So, this is another storyline that should continue in the next season, with him bonding more with his daughter and Julie, as well as leaning more on his friends. Brian and Charlie as new parents will be interesting to see as well, with Liz probably being there to add more to the hilarious scenarios. 

Coming to Gaby, she will have to work through her own issues to enjoy being in a healthy relationship for the first time. There’s also the issue with her mother, who did come for Thanksgiving, but there’s more work to be done. Finally, Sean’s storyline is perplexing. 

Thanks to therapy he is doing much better emotionally especially regarding his father. Also, he is dating Paul’s doctor and his food truck is doing well as well. So maybe next season he will move into his own house and continue his own journey.

Will There be a Season 4 of Shrinking?

In an interiew with The Hollywood Reporter, co-creators Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein revealed that the series was originally pitched as a three-season effort. But they aren’t ruling out further seasons. 

Lawrence said, “If they want to keep doing Shrinking, I would totally keep doing it. I just think that the story of Jason Segel’s character, Jimmy’s wife dying and dealing with that and getting through that, if you’re after six years, still going, ‘I’m still sad about that thing that happened five years ago,’ I’m like, ‘All right, you gotta tell a new story.’”

Filming 

Season 3 of Shrinking is set to begin filming in January 2025. Both seasons 1 and 2 were released after four to five months after filming wrapped. So, if this trend follows then we can see the show return in Fall 2025, probably around October.
