So, what’s his next movie? It has now been revealed that it's The Odyssey, the 8th century BCE epic by Homer. In this article, we will discuss everything we know about the film. 

When and Where will The Odyssey be Released?

Universal has announced that Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey will be released in theaters everywhere on Friday, July 17, 2026. 

What is the plot of The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan?

The Odyssey by Homer is an epic that follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his journey home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he and his men encounter Cyclops Polyphemus, the witch-goddess Circe, the Sirens, sea monsters, and more till he ultimately reunites with his wife Penelope. 

The epic explores themes of loyalty, heroism, brotherhood, cunning, and the struggle against Divine will. Homer’s Greek epic poem is one of the oldest pieces of literature. Universal has confirmed that the mythic action epic film will be shot using new IMAX film tech. 

Who has been cast in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey?

Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron, have been cast in The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan. 

Filming and Behind the Scenes

The Odyssey is expected to begin filming in early 2025. Nolan will write the screenplay and will produce it with Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner.
