Malcolm in the Middle reboot is happening! The series which originally premiered in January 2000 and had a solid seven season run is getting a revival. In the original version, Frankie Muniz played the titular character with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek playing his parents. The show won seven Emmys. Yes, Variety reports that Disney+ has ordered a limited four episode revival of Malcolm in the Middle. That’s not all. The original stars of the show, Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, are all set to return. The original series creator, Linwood Boomer, is also returning as an executive producer and writer.
The premiere date hasn’t been set yet. Director Ken Kwapis will direct all the four episodes. The log line for the revival is:
“Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”
Karey Burke, president of 20th Television said, “Malcolm in the Middle literally changed the face of the television comedy landscape when it premiered two decades ago, redefining what the genre could be.” When the show first premiered, it popularized the use of single-camera comedies for TV.

The executive producers include Boomer, Cranston, Tracy Katsky of KatCo, Gail Berman, New Regency's Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann, along with director Ken Kwapis. Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye are co-executive producers.
