In Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger, Dave Fishwick faces a new challenge as he takes on the exploitative payday lending industry. Set two years after establishing Britain’s first community bank, Dave must risk everything—including his bank, freedom, and even his life—to protect vulnerable communities across the UK.Â
Joining him on this mission are Jessica, an American investigative reporter, and Oliver, a local Citizen’s Advice counselor. Together, they unravel the practices of predatory loan companies, a journey that takes them across the Atlantic to confront the payday loan industry on its own turf.
Inspired by true events, the sequel revisits Fishwick’s real-life fight against payday lenders, previously depicted in his TV special Dave: Loan Ranger. With a blend of drama and inspiration, the movie explores Dave’s determination to bring justice to those exploited by financial giants.

Bank of Dave tells the uplifting true story of Dave Fishwick, portrayed by Rory Kinnear, a businessman from Burnley, Lancashire, who took on the financial establishment after the 2008 credit crisis. With no prior banking experience, Dave started Burnley Savings & Loans to help local small businesses that were unable to secure loans from traditional banks. His initiative was a response to the injustices faced by ordinary people, offering them opportunities to thrive.
The movie's cast includes Phoebe Dynevor, Joel Fry, Hugh Bonneville, Jo Hartley, and Paul Kaye, with a memorable appearance by Def Leppard performing at a fundraiser for Dave's bank. The film captures Dave's determination and the community spirit that fueled his efforts to challenge London's financial giants and secure a banking license.
Filming for Bank of Dave: The Sequel began on Feb. 25, 2024, and wrapped recently. Primary locations include Burnley, Yorkshire, and London.Â
Director Chris Foggin and the crew utilized notable Burnley sites such as a local fish and chip shop near Trafalgar Street and areas near the Keirby Hotel. Filming in Yorkshire included scenes shot at Caramba Steakhouse. Additionally, Dave Fishwick confirmed on social media that portions of the film were shot at his home.

The sequel is directed by Chris Foggin, known for This Is Christmas, Fisherman’s Friends, and Kids in Love. Foggin returns to helm the project, which is produced by Tempo Productions, Future Artists Entertainment, and The Ingenious Group. Piers Tempest and Karl Hall are producing, with Jo Bamford, Christelle Conan, Darragh Matthews, Peter Touche, and Matt Williams serving as executive producers.
The script is written by Piers Ashworth, with Christian Henson composing the score, Mike Stern Sterzynski as cinematographer, Lisa De Cunha as art director, Sarah Wilson as casting director, and Mark Thornton handling editing. The original movie’s distribution was handled by WME Independent before Netflix acquired the rights.
