Suits: LA introduces Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who reinvents himself as a defense attorney for Los Angeles' most influential clients. Set at an entertainment law firm, the story follows Ted as he grapples with his career crisis while uncovering events that caused him to leave everything behind.
Alongside a diverse and ambitious group of colleagues, the series delves into their personal and professional conflicts, exploring loyalty and ambition. Balancing high-stakes legal battles with personal drama, Suits: LA offers a fresh take on the legal genre.
Although there’s no full trailer yet for Suits: LA, a teaser pays homage to the original series with Ima Robot's "Greenback Boogie" playing in the background. It showcases Los Angeles’ iconic sunny skyline and introduces Ted, a lawyer navigating a city filled with palm trees and legal battles. The teaser hints at character connections through a glass wall bearing the name “Rick Dodsen Entertainment.”
The pilot for Suits: LA was filmed in March 2024 in Vancouver, Canada, which previously doubled as New York City for the original series. However, the show’s production will shift to Los Angeles for the remainder of the season, aligning with its sunny Californian setting. The move was confirmed in August 2024, following the series’ pilot order earlier that year.
Produced by UCP, Suits: LA is helmed by Aaron Korsh, the creator and showrunner of the original Suits series. Korsh will write the spinoff’s pilot and serve as an executive producer alongside David Bartis, Doug Liman, Gene Klein, and pilot director Victoria Mahoney (The Old Guard 2). According to Stephen Amell, the new show will retain key creative talents from the original series, including many of the same writers, producers, and costume designer Jolie Andreatta.
