The six-episode series is set to premiere on Shudder and AMC+ on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, starting with the first two episodes, followed by weekly releases of the remaining episodes. Additionally, the first three episodes were screened at Fantastic Fest on Sept. 25, 2024.

Pro Tip

You can stream The Creep Tapes on Shudder and AMC+ in supported regions. By masking your IP address, a VPN allows you to appear as if you’re browsing from a different location, giving you secure access to the show from anywhere in the world.

Plot

The Creep Tapes delves deeper into the psyche of a reclusive serial killer who entices videographers with the opportunity to document his life for pay. However, as the cameras roll, his unsettling intentions become clear through his increasingly bizarre behavior, leading his victims to realize they may have made a fatal error in judgment.

This six-episode anthology continues the found footage horror franchise that began with the 2014 film Creep, where a struggling videographer named Aaron answered a seemingly innocuous Craigslist ad. The series' central figure, portrayed by Mark Duplass, hires his victims under horrific false pretenses, creating a darkly comedic and unnerving atmosphere.

In The Creep Tapes, each episode is named after its chosen victim, offering an unsettling exploration of the serial killer’s antics. Duplass’s character, Josef, first captivated audiences with his chilling wolf-mask persona, Peachfuzz, and his interpretive dance in the original film. This new series will provide insight into Josef’s evolution since Creep 2, where he faced a deranged midlife crisis and became disillusioned with his killings.

As the series unfolds, viewers will witness Josef's disarming charm as he masquerades as a well-meaning loner, gradually revealing his true danger when escape is no longer possible. The Creep Tapes presents a thrilling opportunity for horror fans to engage with a uniquely compelling and horrifying character.

Episodes

Behind the Scenes

The upcoming series The Creep Tapes is brought to you by writers and executive producers Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice. While it remains uncertain whether these six episodes will mark the end of Peachfuzz, Duplass teased earlier this year, “Wouldn’t you like to know? This is the character that I love to play, and if I can find ways to play this until I die, I will.”

Produced by Duplass Brothers Productions and Shudder, The Creep Tapes features Brice directing all episodes. Additional executive producers include Mel Eslyn, Jay Duplass, and Chris Donlon, with Shuli Harel serving as co-executive producer.

Reflecting on the project's origins, Duplass stated, “A little over ten years ago, Patrick Brice and I spent a week together in my cabin with a small digital camera. We emerged with a found footage horror film that was so wildly strange and uncomfortable we assumed no one would see it. To be continuing this unholy legacy in the series format is a true nightmare come true.”

Courtney Thomasma, EVP of streaming for AMC Networks, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “Patrick and Mark have given us two of the most unique and exciting takes on psychological horror with Creep and Creep 2, both of which garnered a huge fan following and cult audience. We’re thrilled to expand this popular franchise with six thrilling episodes that will delve deeper into this twisted story and Peachfuzz antics.”
