Netflix's hit series, Wednesday, is gearing up for its highly anticipated return. The first season made waves, setting the record for the most English-language hours viewed on the platform, surpassing even Stranger Things. With its unique blend of dark humor and supernatural intrigue, the show quickly became a fan favorite and solidified Jenna Ortega's place as a rising star in the horror genre.

Season one ended on a tantalizing note, leaving fans eagerly awaiting answers to unresolved cliffhangers and teases of new threats. Wednesday Addams (Ortega) faced a bloodthirsty stalker, dealt with the fallout from a ruined Rave’N gown, and navigated the perils of teen life at Nevermore Academy. The show earned critical acclaim, including several Primetime Emmy Award nominations, reflecting its impact and popularity.

Production for season two commenced in May 2024, promising even more thrills and chills. Co-showrunners Miles Millar and Al Gough are excited about the new season, which will introduce fresh faces and legendary actors, including Emmy-winner Steve Buscemi. Jenna Ortega has hinted at darker tones, new villains, and more supernatural elements, making season two a must-watch for fans.

In this article, we’ll cover everything we know about Wednesday season 2, from premiere dates and casting updates to the latest teasers. Stay tuned as we continue to update this article with new information as it becomes available!

Release Date & Where to Watch

Filming for Wednesday season two is currently in progress, but fans will need to wait until at least 2025 for its release on Netflix. The production schedule faced delays in 2023 due to Hollywood strikes. For context, season one began filming in Sept. 2021 and concluded in March 2022, premiering on Nov. 16, 2022. If season two follows a similar timeline, a release around Aug. or Sept. 2025 is anticipated.

Plot

Season two of Wednesday promises to delve deeper into the enigmatic world of the Addams family daughter. Picking up from the first season’s cliffhanger, which saw Wednesday receiving a text from an unknown number hinting at a new stalker, the upcoming episodes will likely explore this new threat while expanding on her strained relationship with her mother, Morticia Addams.

Jenna Ortega has teased that season two will feature standout moments and visually striking scenes, potentially surpassing the memorable prom dance of the first season. The new season will also continue to unravel the mysteries of Jericho, with Wednesday's powers and her parents' secrets coming into sharper focus.

Tyler's fate, following his transformation into Hyde, remains uncertain, and his possible return for revenge adds to the intrigue. Although a potential romance between Wednesday and Xavier Thorpe was hinted at, season two will not introduce a new love interest but will rather deepen existing relationships and supernatural elements.

The show will continue to blend chills with family-friendly content, introducing new magical powers and villains. Despite the darker themes, Ortega assures the tone will remain balanced for its young audience. Renewed for a second season in January 2023, Wednesday will build on its successful debut, which earned 12 Primetime Emmy nominations, as it further explores Wednesday’s adventures at Nevermore Academy.

Why did Percy Hynes White exit Wednesday Season 2?

Percy Hynes White will not return for Wednesday season two due to sexual assault allegations against him. As Wednesday's former love interest Xavier Thorpe, his absence will need addressing. It's likely that the show will briefly explain Xavier's departure, perhaps suggesting he transferred to another school, to maintain continuity without disrupting the main storyline.

Season two is expected to focus more on Wednesday and her friend Enid's (Emma Myers) dynamic, shifting away from the romantic subplot involving Xavier and Tyler Galpin. This change aligns with fans’ preference for a stronger focus on the central mystery rather than romantic entanglements.
