Proton VPN has always been marketed as a no-logs VPN provider and has undergone regular audits to prove its claims. Followed by in-depth 2022 and 2023 audits, this VPN provider has recently allowed Securitum, one of the leading European security auditing companies, to inspect all its applications closely.

The most recent audit concentrated on Proton VPN’s no-logs principles. It focused on whether the VPN tracks users’ activity, collects any metadata, and inspects or logs the network traffic on its VPN servers. This was truly an in-depth audit, done between July 3rd and July 5th, 2024.

Securitum assigned two senior security consultants to visit Proton’s office in Geneva to conduct the audit. The consultants worked alongside Proton delegates responsible for VPN product development, and they dedicated a total of six man-days to the inspection.

As per Securitum’s full analysis, it was confirmed that Proton VPN doesn’t collect or log any information that could be associated with a specific user. In other words, the VPN fully complies with its no-logs policy and “offers the highest standards of security and privacy.”

This wasn’t the first time the auditing company inspected Proton VPN. Therefore, the analysis also notes that Proton introduced multiple changes and new features to its VPN since the last audit, without affecting users’ security and convenience. In other words, Proton VPN designs new features to be 100% aligned with its privacy policy.
