In Camp Snoopy, Snoopy and the Beagle Scouts embark on an exciting outdoor adventure to prevent their troop from disbanding. Following the Beagle Scout Manual, they strive to earn badges through various nature activities and outdoor challenges. Meanwhile, Charlie Brown and his friends spend their summer at Camp Spring Lake, enjoying classic camp pursuits like hiking, swimming, and campfires. Their paths frequently intersect with Snoopy and the Beagle Scouts, leading to memorable moments brimming with fun and friendship.
Produced by Peanuts and WildBrain for Apple TV+, the series features a robust creative team led by Rob Boutilier. The concept originated during the third season of "The Snoopy Show" when writer Scott Montgomery proposed a series centered around Snoopy as a Beagle Scout. Boutilier notes that previous Beagle Scout episodes showcased a different facet of Snoopy, depicting him as a humorously exasperated troop leader, reminiscent of an older sibling.
The show coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Beagle Scouts' introduction in Charles M. Schulz’s original Peanuts comic strip. Boutilier believes that new audiences are drawn to the authenticity of Schulz’s characters, who, despite their flaws, are universally relatable. The team aimed to animate Schulz’s comic panels, capturing the spirit and essence of the original strip.
