Spotify is Reportedly Testing Music Import Feature for Android Users

• According to a report by a known tipster, Spotify is currently testing a new import feature for Android.
• Users can soon use the Spotify app for importing music from their phones and tablets.
• A new ‘saved for later’ feature was also spotted in the wild along with an overhauled Library layout.

After being at the top of the music streaming business and losing the crown to Apple Music in the US, Spotify is actively working on new features in the highly competitive market. According to Jane Manchun Wong, Spotify is working on an update which will bring a Song import feature for Android users along with an overhauled library layout and a ‘saved for later’ feature.

Spotify users have been requesting an import feature on the app for a very long time, and we finally have confirmation about its arrival in the near future. You can use any supported Android phone or tablet and upload music on your hardware to your online library using the app. The app will automatically use the file data to assign an artist name, album name, and other information automatically.

One of the reasons Spotify needed to implement the feature is that despite the massive library of over 30 million songs, there is a lot of content not available. Other music streaming services have exclusive rights on some albums which means that users are restricted to using other apps or their device storage for listening to music not available on the platform.

With the upcoming update you can simply purchase the albums outside of Spotify and upload the songs from your Android phone or tablet via the app, and it will be added to your online library. You will then be able to stream the albums even on non-Android devices that support the app. There is no official word on when the feature will be available and we can only expect that it releases soon as it’s a long-awaited feature that users have been asking for years.
