Big Little Journeys is a British nature series where we follow small animals undertake big journeys across rainforests, mountains, and wetlands and overcome huge obstacles, giant predators, and natural disasters in their quest for food, family, and survival. It premiered on Sunday, October 8, 2023, on BBC Two at 8 pm and BBC iPlayer in the UK, but this service is geo-restricted.

Since this platform only works in the UK, the BBC iPlayer media player is inaccessible to people who travel abroad or live in another country. The service sees your physical location through your IP address, and people abroad get an error message. Yet, there is a simple solution to evade the geo-blockade, so you don’t need to worry.

A VPN helps you watch Big Little Journeys online from anywhere you may be by making the service see you as being in the UK. All you need to do is turn on the app via a British server to remove the error message.

This being said, let's see when, where, and how to easily watch Big Little Journeys online from anywhere, why you need a VPN, the series preview, episode release schedule, and more.

How to Watch Big Little Journeys Online With a VPN

It’s easy to watch Big Little Journeys online with a VPN, as you only need to pick a UK server and let the app run in the background. Here’s a detailed guide on how to do this:

  1. Subscribe to a VPN that unblocks BBC iPlayer (we recommend NordVPN).
  2. Download and install the VPN app for your device.
  3. Open the VPN and switch it on via a UK server.
  4. Load the BBC iPlayer service and stream the title.

Why Do You Need a VPN to Watch Big Little Journeys?

You need a VPN to watch Big Little Journeys because the BBC iPlayer platform does not work outside UK territories, and geo-restrictions will prevent you from using its library after it reads your physical location.

If you are abroad and try to use the iPlayer media player without having a VPN app, a geo-blockade prevents you from doing that with an error message saying, "BBC iPlayer only works in the UK. Sorry, it’s due to rights issues."

BBC iPlayer Geo Block

A VPN bypasses the geo-restrictions once you launch it, pick a UK server, and switch it on. Now that you have a British IP address, the streaming platform sees you as being in the UK and removes the error message, so you can finally stream Big Little Journeys from anywhere you may be.

Looking for the best VPN on the market right now? NordVPN swiftly unblocks BBC iPlayer and more, and we recommend it for all the live TV and streaming platforms out there.

Big Little Journeys 2023 Series Preview

Big Little Journeys is a new British nature documentary series that takes us into the extraordinary worlds of six tiny animals on a quest for food, family, and survival as they embark on the biggest journeys of their lives across rainforests, mountains, wetlands and overcome huge obstacles, giant predators, and natural disasters.

The animals we will follow include a family of endangered golden-headed lion tamarins in Brazil’s Atlantic rainforest, the odd Labord’s chameleon with an extremely short life span of only six months in Madagascar, and the rare Formosan pangolin in Taiwan, which is the world’s most trafficked animal.

Big Little Journeys works with scientists and conservationists around the world and uses immersive camera systems, surveillance technology, and probe and borescope lenses that shrink the lens down to give a small animal’s view of the world. This way, the small animals are filmed in the same style as big animals.

The series is made by BBC Studios Natural History Unit and co-produced by PBS.
