Amidst rumors of Intel failing to keep up with market demands due to a lack of production of 14nm chipsets, the manufacturer is set to unveil its latest processors at today’s “Fall Desktop Launch Event.” Intel will be hosting the event at 10 AM ET / 7 AM PT, and we can expect the 9th generation chipsets to finally be unveiled.

Analysts expect the 10nm Cannon Lake chipsets to be delayed to 2019 and the 9th generation processors that will be unveiled today will refresh the i9, i7 and i5 family of CPUs using the same 14nm manufacturing process. According to industry leaks, the new i9-9900K will be priced at $529.99 and will the flagship product this year. The i7-9700K priced at $529.99 and the i5-9600K $279.99 will be leading the i7 and i5 lineups respectively.

All eyes will be on the 9th generation Core i9 lineup as it goes head to head with AMD’s latest Threadripper lineup.  It will come with 8 cores and 16 threads and will be the first mainstream i9 processor to come with 16 MB of L3 cache and Intel’s UHD 620 GPU. Moving on to the i7 lineup, the 9th Gen Core i7 processor will pack 8 cores and 8 threads while the new i5 lineup will offer 6 cores and 6 threads.

Intel will be offering insights on performance and reveal more details at the event later today. If you want to check out the event live, head to Intel’s Newsroom page when the event starts, and you will be able to check out all of the reveals live. The new lineup is likely to be a refresh of the current generation (8th Gen) processors, and we can expect a new 10nm lineup next year from the manufacturer.
