Microsoft Announces New Surface Studio 2 – All-New GPU & Greatly Improved Display!

• Microsoft’s most powerful all-in-one PC has received numerous updates, mostly reflected in its specs.
• The Surface Studio 2 brings a better display, much faster GPU, and next-generation CPUs and SSD drives.
• The price starts at $3,500 even though the release date is still not known.

We can’t say that Microsoft’s press event that happened today was full of surprises. However, we are happy to see the company investing its time into evolving its Surface product line. After announcing the Surface Pro 6 and the Surface Laptop 2, the company’s highly acclaimed Surface Studio is also getting a much-needed upgrade.

Interestingly enough, Microsoft has unveiled its Surface Studio PC close to two years ago. We can’t say that this computer brought a revolution design but it still managed to check all the right boxes. Now, the company is ready to evolve this product without affecting its already elegant design. The new Surface Studio 2 comes with the same 28-inch display like the original PC – with several important improvements to its display tech and a set of new internals as well.

According to Microsoft’s representatives, the new display is 38 percent brighter than the previous generation, and it also comes with 22 percent more contrast. The amazingly vivid display is powered by 13.5 million pixels and comes with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity – if interacted with the Surface Pen. And if you’re wondering whether the Surface Studio 2 can still be tilted, have no worries. You can still play around with it and set its display to a certain height by simply pulling it up or pushing it down.

What’s interesting to note is that the Surface Studio 2 is still being advertised as the ultimate tool for creative professionals. There’s now an all-new GPU that is 50 percent faster than before and powered by Nvidia’s chip based on the Pascal architecture. This means that tasks like 3D design, video rendering, and even gaming should be easy tasks for this machine to handle. And if you’re a gamer, the Surface Studio 2 also brings built-in Xbox Wireless support which means that you can effortlessly connect your Xbox One controller. Finally, the Surface Studio 2 now brings a high-performing 2TB SSD instead of the slower hybrid drive present on the first generation.

The base model is priced at $3,500 and it includes Intel’s Kaby-Lake i7 processor and 16GB of RAM. Microsoft is still not ready to unveil when the new computer will be available – except that we can ‘expect it soon’.
