Chromebooks Set to Receive Video Editing Capabilities with Adobe’s Project Rush

• Chromebooks are set to receive some love from Adobe with a new video editing app in the works.
• Adobe’s Project Rush will soon offer powerful editing tools form Adobe’s flagship applications like After Effects, Premiere Pro, Audition and more.
• The app is designed for Android, but any Chromebook that is capable of running Android apps will be able to take advantage of Adobe’s offering.

One of the biggest drawbacks of Chromebooks is the lack of powerful video editing apps. Adobe’s Project Rush is set to change with a host of editing tools that can Chromebooks to realize their potential. Adobe’s offering is set to include features from Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro and Audition.

All of the videos are synced to the cloud to help users work on-the-go. The app is being built from the ground up for Android devices in mind as well as Windows and Mac platforms. Simply creating an Adobe ID and logging into the app will allow users to download active projects from Adobe’s cloud storage. There is no word on the standalone pricing of the app, but it has been confirmed that it will be part of the Adobe Creative Cloud platform which offers all of Adobe’s apps on a subscription basis.

The app is currently in beta and users can sign up for Adobe’s beta program to be involved with the project. While the app isn’t built for Chromebooks specifically in mind, an Adobe representative has confirmed that Chromebooks that are capable of handling Android apps should be able to handle Adobe’s offering.

Project Rush will also have social features embedded into the app to allow users to share their creations on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. The app looks quite promising for Chrome OS, more than any other platform it will launch on. People often criticize the capabilities of Chromebooks when it comes to productivity apps, and Project Rush might give it the edge it needs for people to consider Google’s laptops over tablets or Windows/Mac OS laptops.
