Naruto: All Jutsu’s Created By The Second Hokage

The story of Naruto is our titular character's journey from a mischievous troublemaker to the seventh Hokage of Konohagakure! We've known that the Hokage that preceded Naruto were all great heroes throughout the series. Right from the First Hokage Hashirama Senju to the Sixth Hokage Kakashi Hatake, we've seen the bravery and unparalleled skills of these brave leaders.

As we're all aware, the Hokage's were all extremely witty and sharp ninjas. However, there's nobody better than the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, when it comes to wit and cunning. The Second Hokage, also the younger brother of the First Hokage, was instrumental in forming the Konoha.

Naruto's fandom has been divided over Tobirama Senju for several years. Tobirama's fans believe him to have been the best Hokage until Naruto. In contrast, his haters believe that his dislike for the Uchiha clan ultimately led to the attempted coup d'etat under the Third Hokage's regime. Whether you're a Tobirama fan or not, you cannot deny his genius. In addition to being an excellent Hokage, Tobirama created some interesting jutsus, which we see several of our main characters use in the series! Let's take a look.

Jutsus Created by Tobirama Senju, The Second Hokage

Shadow Clone Jutsu (Kage Bunshin)

Fans who remember the series well will remember Naruto and the Second Hokage's conversation during the war where he mentions that he created the Shadow Clone Jutsu! The Shadow Clone technique allows the user to create copies of themselves by dividing the user's chakra evenly between themselves and their clones.

This means that creating one clone will give it half the user's chakra, creating two clones will give each a third of the user's chakra, and so on. The technique can be dangerous since the more clones a person creates, the depleted chakra. Hence, the Shadow Clone jutsu is a Jonin-level technique.

In addition, the Multi-Shadow Clone jutsu, which creates hundreds of clones as opposed to the regular version's dozens, is a forbidden jutsu. Interestingly, the titular Naruto Uzumaki is an exception to this rule. Naruto hails from the formidable Uzumaki clan, a clan whose members possess large chakra reserves. In addition, Naruto is also the nine-tailed fox's jinchuriki, giving him even more access to monstrous amounts of chakra reserves.

Fans will remember that one of the first Jutsu's Naruto performs in the series was the multi-shadow clone (Taju Kage Bunshin), where he defeated the former Konoha ninja Mitsuki.

Reanimation Jutsu (Edo Tensei)

The Edo Tensei or Reanimation jutsu, created by Tobirama Senju, was seen quite a few times. The jutsu allows the user to bring the dead back to life and lets them control the reanimated corpses as puppets. The technique is complicated, requiring cells from the corpses and living persons as sacrifices.

To control the reanimated corpse, the user must place a kunai with a special talisman into the reanimation's brain, suppressing their personality. The user of the Edo Tensei can also allow the dead being to regain their original personality while still keeping them under their control. The reanimated dead cannot be killed but can regenerate as many times as they are hit. In addition, the reanimations possess unlimited chakra and cannot feel pain when hit by an attack.

The jutsu's strength is that killing the user who controls the dead will not stop the reanimations. In addition, the reanimation may never be stopped if the summoner is dead. However, the jutsu also has some weaknesses regarding the reanimated corpses since one can suppress their movement with sealing tags. In addition, as Itachi Uchiha proved, the user of the Edo Tensei can also be controlled by someone who can use powerful genjutsu.

Fans will remember that Itachi Uchiha, who Kabuto reanimated during the War arc, managed to dispel his control after encountering the crow possessing Shisui Uchiha's Mangekyou Sharingan. Itachi then fought Kabuto and used the Uchiha's forbidden Izanami technique, forcing him to undo the reanimations ultimately. This jutsu was declared forbidden by Tobirama.

The Edo Tensei is so complicated that since its inception, only three users have been known to use it: Orochimaru, Kabuto Yakushi, and the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju himself!

Flying Raijin Jutsu / Flying Thunder God Technique (Hiraishin no Jutsu)

One of the coolest techniques created by the Second Hokage, the Flying Raijin jutsu, allows the user to teleport to a previously marked location in an instant! When the user of the Flying Raijin marks a place or a person with the technique formula, it cannot be removed. The mark will remain in place even if the technique user has died.

Fans will remember this from the War arc, when the reanimated Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze's mark on Obito, allowed him to teleport to his location. Minato had been dead for over a decade; however, the mark he placed on Obito during the nine-tails attack still existed. In addition, there is no limit to how many targets can be marked with technique formulas, as Minato routinely uses dozens at a time.

Anything that the user of the Flying Raijin is touching directly or indirectly through chakra can be teleported with them. Both Tobirama and Minato were famed as the fastest shinobi during their lifetimes. While both were very fast on their own, the Flying Thunder God also contributed to their fame. During the Third Shinobi World War, Minato's extensive usage of the Flying Thunder God led to his moniker as Konoha's "Yellow Flash."
