SPOILER WARNING

If you haven't watched the latest episodes of Attack on Titan Season 4, everything below is a spoiler!

Gather around AOT lovers; it's time to talk about the most beloved and badass character from the series: Levi Ackerman. Things have changed a lot since the first season of Attack on Titan aired. Eren Yeager, the hero of our story, seems to have turned into a villain. Mikasa, who stood by Eren's side at every step along the way, has begun to question her faith in him. Armin, who was always sure of the right thing to do, is at a crossroads between what he thinks is right and supporting Eren.

However, if there's one thing that hasn't changed, it's Levi Ackerman. In Season 1, Levi was a no-nonsense captain in the Survey Corps who could defeat 15 Titans at once. Cut to Season 4, Levi remains just as deadly and snappy as ever. However, the latest episodes of Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 seem to have Levi fans shaken.

Is Levi Ackerman dead? The new episodes from Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 have not been too kind to our clean-freak Captain. AOT's Season 4 Part 1 finale began a disturbing storyline for Levi, with fans now questioning if he's even alive! Read on to find out.

Does Levi Ackerman Die in Attack on Titan Season 4?

The last few episodes of Attack on Titan have been rough on Levi. Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 1 Episode 14 saw Levi detaining Zeke in the Forest of Giant Trees. As Zeke attempted to flee his confinement, Levi soon caught up. However, it seems that in the next episode, Levi and Zeke both blew up because of a Thunder Spear, and since the Ackerman isn't a Titan, he can't regenerate.

While still in the Forest of Giant Trees, Levi and Zeke discuss the latter's plan to save Eldians. However, as Levi walks away, Zeke attempts to flee right after the conversation. But here's the twist, not only does Zeke try to run as far away as he can from the deadly Ackerman, but he also has Levi's squad drink the wine laced with his spinal fluid.

This leads to Levi's entire squad turning into Pure Titans as soon as Zeke screams while still fleeing. Zeke seems to have done this to slow Levi down since the Titans he'd be killing are his squad members. However, Levi's will and resolve have always been strong. The Captain soon catches up with Zeke after destroying more than 10 Titans in a matter of minutes.

In an attempt to keep him at bay, Levi cuts off Zeke's legs and impales him with a Thunder Spear to crush his hopes of turning into a Titan. However, after a lengthy flashback from his past in the next episode, Zeke decides to ignite the Thunder Spear anyway and detonates it, catching Levi by surprise.

So, Season 4 Part 1 Episode 15 was the last episode where fans saw Levi alive and talking. Since then, the show has been unforthcoming in terms of Levi's fate leading several fans to worry that he might be dead. However, we do not believe that Levi Ackerman is dead, and there's more than one reason behind it, which you can read below.

Reasons Why Levi Ackerman is Still Alive in Attack on Titan Season 4

1. Hange and Levi (Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 17)

Season 4, Episode 17 of Attack on Titan starts by revealing the aftermath of the explosion that got both Zeke and Levi. Hange, who heard the blast along with Floch and other Yeagerists nearby, upon investigating, finds a severely injured Levi with his fingers cut off. Levi doesn't seem to move or speak and is declared dead by Hange immediately.

However, what's weird about that scene is that when Floch asks to check Levi's pulse himself, Hange doesn't move or say anything. If Levi were dead, Hange would let Floch confirm this immediately since they are restraining her. In addition, when Zeke wakes up fully healed after his dream, Hange uses the opportunity to take Levi and jump into the water while the Yeagerists shoot at them in vain.

Once again, we believe that if Levi were dead, Hange wouldn't risk getting shot at to get away with his dead body. After all, have we forgotten that Survey Corps once literally threw the dead bodies of their comrades to the Titans to flee?

2. Levi is an important character

Whether you're a Levi fan or not, although we think you are, you have to agree that Levi is an essential and significant character in the series. Sure, Attack on Titan doesn't shy away from killing off important people like Erwin, but an off-screen death? That doesn't seem likely. Surely a character like Levi deserves his death scene and not some random explosion and a black screen? We find it very hard to believe that a series like an Attack on Titan would do that to a main-ish character.

3. Levi's promise to Erwin

While Attack on Titan isn't the kind of show where the "power of bonds" or "friendship" can prevent somebody from dying, Levi isn't the kind of character to go back on his word. Before Commander Erwin Smith sacrifices himself, Levi promises him that he will take down the Beast Titan, and if you've seen Season 4, then you know that Levi isn't too happy about the fact that he's still alive OR that he's now "on their side." Whatever Levi's fate may be at the end of the series, we do not think that writer Hajime Isayama would kill off Levi before he fulfills his promise to Erwin.

Of course, we could be wrong, but we can't help it! We believe in Levi!
