A leaked case photo allegedly belonging to the new Huawei Mate V shows the design of the smartphone that is rumored to launch on December 23. We can see the new phone adopting the foldable form of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3, the camera design resembles Huawei P50 aesthetics, and the two camera holes promise a capable photo setup.
Huawei will soon unveil its second foldable smartphone after the Huawei Mate X2, which is a flip phone that uses an up-and-down design rumored to be female-specific. Zhaoli Technology has reportedly begun producing new hinges for the Huawei Mate V, and the company says the phone requires fewer parts and is more profitable than its predecessors.
Chinese social networking site Weibo provided the images showing two large cut-outs on the case's back. While the exact number of rear cameras on the Huawei Mate V is still unknown, there will be enough room for them.
With the upcoming Mate V phone, Huawei embraces the foldable clamshell design. Clamshell phones such as the Motorola Razr and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 still have a role to play - when compared to smartphones with more extensive displays, their touchscreens are smaller, easier to operate, and they make clever use of smaller secondary screens too.
Since the US ban on Huawei, the company has been relatively inactive in the smartphone market. However, earlier reports stated that Huawei would introduce new products, including watches, TVs, notebooks, and smartphones. Huawei Mate V may make its debut at this event along with the Huawei Watch D and Huawei Fit mini sports. The Huawei smart screen is also likely to make an appearance.
