Parag Agrawal, who replaced Jack Dorsey as CEO on Monday, is reorganizing Twitter's Product and Engineering leadership structures rapidly. In a regulatory filing on Friday, Twitter stated that the company would establish general manager roles to increase general efficiency. These executives will be in charge of all engineering, product management, design, and research teams.
Twitter's engineering lead, Michael Montano, and its design and research lead, Dantley Davis, will leave their positions at the end of this year. In the new layout, Kayvon Beykpour, Bruce Falck, and Nick Caldwell will lead the Consumer, Revenue, and Core Tech teams, respectively. These big changes made by Parag Agrawal in the first week as a CEO are supposed to "drive increased accountability, speed, and operational efficiency."
Davis is described as the first Black executive to report to Twitter's CEO since the company went public in 2015. A report in the New York Times said he plans to fix stagnation by making significant changes to its culture using his position with the company. His changes made some employees uncomfortable because they weren't used to being asked to criticize their colleagues. On Friday, Davis posted to Twitter that he felt privileged to have been part of the company's journey.
"I believe it is time for the company to move on from its founders," Dorsey wrote in a letter to employees on Monday. Even though he stepped down, he is expected to remain on the company board until somewhere around May.
Earlier this year, Twitter announced that it aimed to have 315 million daily active users and increase its revenue by at least double by 2023. As part of the restructuring, Twitter aims to make decision-making faster. In a statement released by Twitter, Laura Alexander said Agrawal's task is to optimize the company's operation to make it more effective.Â
