Peacock has gained a ton of subscribers since it launched last year, and it's another great addition to the on-demand and live TV platforms market. Below we'll guide you through how to get Peacock on Chromecast.
As you can expect, it comes with thousands of hours of content that includes classic NBC shows, Peacock originals, sports, news, and more - and soon, we'll also see movies from Universal, DreamWorks, Illumination, and Focus Films studios arriving four months after their cinematic debut.
How to Watch Peacock on Chromecast
Here's how to get Peacock on Chromecast in a few simple steps:
- Open the Peacock app on your smartphone or desktop.
- Select the content you wish to view and select Play.
- Select the Chromecast icon at the top of the screen.
- Select your chromecast enabled streaming device.
- When you are connected, the Chromecast icon will change color.
- Now the Peacock movie, show, or series will cast on your device.
If you are not a customer yet, you can subscribe to Peacock on their website. Create a free account by entering a user email and creating a password. NBCU's live TV and streaming app offer an ad-supported Free tier and a Premium plan for $4.99 per month. The latter can be upgraded to Premium Plus for another $5/month to remove the ads altogether. There are also annual plans that you can select for a better price. You can access the limited-commercials Premium tier for no extra cost if you are an Xfinity or Cox customer.
Since Peacock is a geo-blocked service, you can only access its content within the US. However, there are ways to watch Peacock while traveling.
Alternate: Get Peacock on Chromecast with Google TV
Peacock is currently available on Chromecast with Google TV, so you can directly get the Peacock app on the device instead of casting. Follow the steps below.
- The first step is as simple as that: Install Peacock on your Chromecast.
- Go to Apps -> Under App Categories -> Tap on the Search for Apps option.
- Search Peacock and Tap on the Install button to download on Chromecast.
- Now sign in to your Peacock account using your Peacock credentials, you are good to go. You need to log in only when first launching it.
Note: If you don't see Peacock listed as a service, go to Settings, then Accounts & Sign In. Select Your Services and make sure it's toggled On.
Chromecast troubleshooting:
- Verify your Google Home app is installed on your mobile device.
- The Google Home app is available in the iTunes Store and Google Play Store.
- Make sure your Chromecast device is connected to your TV.
- Make sure the Chromecast device and your streaming device are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
