ESPN+ is raising its prices again, and it’s the third time this happens since August 2020. The last time was in January 2021, when the sports streaming service drove annual prices up by $10, going from $49.99 to $59.99. This time, the price will jump to $69.99, so we are getting another $10 bump that will take effect for all new subscriptions beginning after August 13, 2021.

According to The Verge, which received a confirmation from a spokesperson for ESPN+, the monthly subscription cost will also jump to $6.99, so 1 dollar will be added there. Last year, it was set to $4,99 per month, so the subscription cost in the long run has drifted significantly from what it used to be.

What won’t change is the cost of the UFC pay-per-view, which has some form of its own sovereign existence in the streaming platform, being so popular and sought after. Also, the Disney Plus + Hulu + ESPN Plus bundle that combined the two services won’t see any changes in its cost, so that remains at $13. Our recommendation remains to get ESPN+ as part of that bundle, which is an amazing bargain.

ESPN+ currently counts 13.8 million subscribers who are enjoying the live coverage of professional sports events, as well as college football and basketball. The platform covers baseball, racing, American football, cricket, esports, gold, hockey, tennis, rugby, and more. Its crown jewel is the “Ultimate Fighting Championship” (UFC), which is very popular across a wide range of demographics - so popular that it has sometimes brought ESPN+ servers down to their knees.

For a detailed analysis on what to expect from ESPN+, check out our in-depth review of the streaming platform. In general, it is a specialized service that could be worth its money even after the three price hikes in the past 12 months, depending on what sports you enjoy watching. It’s not for everyone and won’t please every sports fan out there, but it does have a user-friendly interface with modern elements and good performance on many devices.
