During the recently concluded Google I/O 2018, Google announced multiple smart AI editing features headed to the Google Photos app. In less than 24 hours from the end of the conference, new features seem to be rolling out for some users.

The new update was first spotted by a Reddit user, who noted that the smart AI editing features are being pushed out by Google in version 3.20. One of the highlight features of the new update is Color Pop. The tool allows users to make the background of an image black and white while retaining the color of the subject.

However, despite updating the app to the latest version many users have not been able to get access to the new feature. It might be an account specific rollout that may require a couple of days before all users get access to the new AI-based feature. The new update does, however, give access to AI assistant to all users which asks users if they want to archive photos they are looking at. The feature identifies subjects very easily. Screenshots, documents, business cards and receipts can be archived using the new Google Photos app as well.

Other smart editing tools that were showcased at Google I/O 2018 have not been made available yet and it is likely the features will roll out in the coming days. Color Pop and the archiving tool should be available to all users once the rollout is complete.

If you want to try out the new features right now and did not automatically get the update on your phone yet, you can download the APK of Google Photos’ latest version from third party websites like APKMirror. You may need to enable unknown sources when trying to install the APK on your Android device when prompted to allow the installation.
