Paramount Plus has finally taken over for CBS All Access, and we're super glad that's happened. However, some folks are having issues with their video streams, as the screen goes black, the image is stuck on loading, the video appears to be unavailable, or the app simply freezes. Let's see what the problem is here and how to fix it.Â
Thankfully, Paramount Plus is aware of this issue - and it's working to solve any issues that may pop up. That being said, let's see exactly what we can do here to fix the issue on our own.Â
First of all, you need to be aware that the situation can be solved depending on the device you're on.Â
Check your Internet connection
Another thing that can impact your ability to watch Paramount Plus on your computer or any other device is your Internet connection - or any issues with it. So, let's try rebooting your router.
First, unplug the router. If you also have a separate modem, unplug that one too.Â
Wait for a minute and plug everything back in again. Wait for a couple of minutes for the device to get back into working order.Â
Go to your computer, type in the Paramount Plus address and try streaming again.Â
Paramount Plus Streaming Issues on Computer
If you're watching Paramount Plus on your computer, you don't need to worry because you can most definitely fix the problem.Â
First of all, make sure your browser is up to date. Paramount Plus works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge. For the most part, you can check whether you're on the latest version by going into the "About" area of your browser settings.Â
Clear your browser's cache, cookies, and browsing history. We may also suggest that you try doing this only with the Paramount Plus website, but that's a step for more advanced users.Â
Refresh your browser by tapping the 'reload' icon on the Paramount Plus page.Â
If the issue persists, close your browser and open a new window in which you can type the Paramount Plus address.Â
Try another browser if your regular one refuses to work with Paramount Plus.Â
Paramount Plus Streaming Issues on Connected Devices
Streaming issues could also pop up if you're watching Paramount Plus content via Apple Tv, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, or Roku.Â
First, you should try force quitting the app.Â
Then, make sure you have the latest version running on your device (and enable auto-updates to prevent potential future issues). If there are any pending updates, install them.
Fixing Paramount Plus Streaming Issues on Roku
If the above trick did not work with your Roku, there are a few extra things you can do.Â
Restart your Roku. If you're using a Roku player, go to Settings -> System -> System restart. If you're using Roku TV, go to Settings -> System -> Power -> System restart.Â
Also, you can try unplugging the device, waiting for a few seconds, and plugging it back in again.Â
Tap the Home button on the Roku remote. Go to Settings and, from there, to System.Â
Choose the System update, if any is available. You'll see they are listed with the date and time of the latest update available, while the current software and build version is also displayed, so you can compare.Â
If no updates are available, press the "Check Now" to manually so the device runs a check for any potential updates they may not have loaded.Â
In the event that any additional issues pop up, you can restart the modem/router and relaunch the Paramount+ channel.Â
Also, if any Internet issues are present, you should be able to see them from Home - Settings - Network - Check Connection.Â
Fixing Paramount Plus Streaming Issues on Fire TV
If the help we provided in the first part of the section didn't help, we could offer some help specifically for your Fire TV.Â
Go to the Amazon home screen, and Settings - Select applications - Select Manage Installed Applications.Â
There, force stop the Paramount Plus app. Clear the cache on the device and relaunch the app to check if the streaming problem you've encountered has fixed itself.Â
Paramount Plus Streaming Issues on Mobile Devices
Streaming issues have also been encountered with Paramount Plus mobile devices, so let's see how we can fix the problem.Â
First, make sure that your network connectivity is up to par. It's always preferable to use WiFi since the speeds are better, but only if the available networks are safe to use. Otherwise, your mobile data will work just fine too. See if you have issues with loading any other pages in your mobile browser.Â
If you're connected to the WiFi network and having streaming issues, we suggest you restart the modem and/or router by unplugging it for a minute and plugging it back in. Then, relaunch the Paramount Plus app on your device and try streaming again.Â
We also suggest that you force quit the app and launch it back up again. Sometimes, any glitches get fixed in this manner.Â
As you can see, the problems can come on any of the devices you use to watch Paramount Plus. For the most part, simply checking your Internet connection and trying to load the content once more fixed the problem. You just have to show a little patience.Â
We do hope that your problems have been covered and that we managed to be of help so you can go and enjoy your favorite content on Paramount Plus now!Â
