Shooting At YouTube Headquarters: 1 Dead, 4 Injured

Tuesday afternoon, at 12.48pm PDT, San Bruno police arrived at YouTube headquarters following a shooting incident. There were sights of YouTube employees, identified through their badges which hanged from their belt loops, walking out of the building in clusters.

YouTube CEO, Susan Wojcicki was taken away by fellow employees while brushing off reporters. They hurried across to a neighboring YouTube office. Quickly, five black shuttle buses lined up in a row but stayed their empty for over an hour. Ride-sharing cars also arrived at the situation to take employees back home.

In a press conference that followed the event, San Bruno Police Chief, Ed Barberini cited that when the police arrived, they found a woman with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Current speculation is that she is the shooter. Overall, there were four victims, one of them was just outside the building, one near the entrance, and two other at an adjacent business.

As Wired reports, Three of the victims have been taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. One of the hospital spokespeople, Brent Andrew, talked with an ABC affiliate and disclosed that there are several persons currently in critical condition. The other victim, a 27-year-old female, is in a comparatively better condition remarked the spokesperson. Andre Campbell, a trauma surgeon, commented that all the patients are awake and aware of what happened.

According to the testimony given by Dianna Arnspiger, a worker in YouTube media operation department, the shooter was a woman armed with a big gun. She saw the shooter from a patio on the building’s second floor. Arnspiger also confirmed that she has never seen that women near YouTube and don’t believe that she works there. She recalls hearing a couple of gunshots before seeing the woman and then heard a couple more. Arnspiger further cited, “doing OK, doing alright, feeling fortunate to make it out and that everyone I know is safe.

Around 1 PM, reports of the shooting spread across Twitter. The microblogging platform was used to recount all the incidents experienced by YouTube employees. However, misinformation also started to spread like wildfire in the social media platforms. Some informants on social media platform cited the shooter as a 30 something woman while other described a fully armored man.
