Paramount Plus

CBS All Access is getting a new name in just a few months. If you put your money on the name, including a "+" in there, you won the lottery.

Paramount Plus is going to feature everything CBS All Access has and some extras. Already planned are five new original series from various networks under the ViacomCBS - Paramount, CBS, MTV, and BET.

The Offer will feature 10 episodes, and it's going to be about the making of The Godfather, Behind the Music gets revived, and there's also another revival planned, this time, of The Game.

ViacomCBS is also going to add an extra 30,000 episodes and movies from various content providers across the market, as opposed to only serving CBS content. This, of course, was one of their targets, as announced a few months ago.

The name is a bit confusing. Obviously, they're following in the path of loads of other streaming services lately - ESPN+, Apple TV+, Disney+. There's definitely a trend here. However, the fact that ViacomCBS decided to completely switch from CBS All Access to Paramount+ is a bit more baffling as CBS is a better recognizable brand than Paramount is.

Also, since they're mixing in content from so many networks, they could have gone off and used a different name altogether. Under the ViacomCBS wing, we have networks like MTV, Showtime, Nickelodeon, BET, Comedy Central, Paramount, VH1, Pop TV, CBS, CBS Sports, CBS News, and others. They also co-own The CW. Clearly, there's plenty of content to be poured into Paramount+ and perhaps would have been better off with a different name to encompass them all rather than make people think it only features Paramount shows and movies.

Nonetheless, this service is coming in early 2021, and we can only hope it's going to feature lots of cool content that will make it worth our while to subscribe. It is unclear exactly how much this new service will cost, but CBS All Access has two subscription options that go for $7.99 and $9.99 per month.
