Sony has approached its marketing strategy for the upcoming PlayStation 5 from a very stealthy perspective. The company has taken its time to reveal plenty of interesting tidbits about the forthcoming console, over the last couple of months. However, we still don’t know some of the most critical information – including how much the PS5 will cost.

As per the latest indication, Sony has begun changing its PlayStation website to include a pre-order option. It means that we’re getting closer to the company’s announcement on how much the upcoming console will cost, with the opportunity to pre-order it. We have to say that this doesn’t come as a surprise, considering the PS5 will come out during this year’s holiday season, with no delays expected.

What’s surprising here is the Sony is planning to limit PS5 pre-orders to one-per-person. As discovered by a ResetEra member, the official PlayStation website has a code hidden in its JavaScript. This code triggers an error message when an individual tries to add multiple PS5 consoles to their cart.

The error code reads: “You can only purchase one version of the PS5 console: Disc or Digital. You have already added one PS5 console to your cart.” With this said, Sony will inevitably have a limited number of PS5 consoles upon the device’s launch - and wants to make sure that all PS fans get their chance to buy the latest console.

It’s also interesting to note that only a few days ago, PlayStation’s head of marketing Eric Lempel said that PS5 pre-orders wouldn’t open at a moment’s notice. Therefore, PlayStation fans won’t have to rush to secure their purchase. There’ll be plenty of time to prepare and act. And speaking of Sony’s plans on manufacturing PS5 consoles, Bloomberg has recently reported that the company has doubled its PS5 production from 5 to 10 million for 2020.

When it comes to other rumors, we’ve previously reported on the possibility for the PS5 console to support picture-in-picture layouts. And if you’d like to learn about what’s been announced so far, here’s all we know about the console itself, the DualSense controller, and a whole slate of accessories. Of course, let’s not forget about the announced PS5 games.

In the end, we’d like to add that not many individuals will actually want to buy more than one PlayStation 5 unit. However, as it had happened many times before, this is Sony’s way of preventing individuals from reselling PS5 units at a much high price, especially if the initial batch of units is limited.
