Woe there, outcasts! A chilling new teaser for Wednesday season two has finally landed, and it’s as twisted and thrilling as you'd expect. Jenna Ortega returns as the delightfully deadpan Wednesday Addams—and she’s bringing chaos, cryptic clues, and a new Addams family dynamic along for the ride. The teaser arrives with big news and with scenes that the internet can’t stop talking about.

We took a magnifying glass to the teaser and dug up six (yes, six) spine-tingling details you might’ve missed. Let’s descend into the crypt of secrets, shall we?

6. Introducing Grandmama: Hester Frump Joins the Family

Joanna Lumley enters the Addams universe as Hester Frump, Morticia’s eccentric mother and Wednesday’s unlikely partner-in-crime.

The idea of bringing Hester, Morticia’s mother, into the fold this season was something we were so excited about,” co-creator Miles Millar tells Tudum

The first day on set when Joanna walked on, she just was Hester, and she nailed every single line, and it’s just so delicious. She’s perfect and hilarious. That Wednesday-Hester relationship is unique; you see a twinkle in both their eyes when they’re together on-screen. I think everyone is going to fall in love with Hester,” Miller added.

Lumley herself adds, “There’s always something thrilling about working for Tim Burton... I get to wear many, many huge wigs, one on top of the other — and lots of quite constraining clothes, so I love it.”

5. Steve Buscemi is the new Principal at Nevermore

Following Principal Weems’ dramatic death, Nevermore welcomes Principal Barry Dort—played by the ever-iconic Steve Buscemi.

Steve brought a new energy to this season,” Tim Burton tells Tudum. “You can just sense when people love watching somebody work and respect somebody’s work. Same for me. I really enjoyed every day because it was fun and it was creative,” Burton added.

Buscemi says, “I’ve always been a fan of the Addams family…Barry Dort is a bit of a mysterious figure. Something about him is not right, but he loves the school and he has real outcast pride.”

4. The Addams Family Moves into Nevermore

This year, Wednesday isn’t the only Addams at school. Her little brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) is joining Nevermore—and so are her parents, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luis Guzmán), with more screen time than ever.

Your family at school is the worst thing possible, isn’t it?” Tim Burton quips to Tudum

I never wanted my parents to come to school. Wednesday is an even more extreme version of that. Poor Pugsley. He’s kind of an outcast among outcasts... Everybody has their own specialty power, and he’s new to his own. He’s just exploring his newfound teenage powers,” Burton added.

In the teaser, we see Pugsley showcasing some newly awakened powers by literally tearing down the Jericho sign.

3. Tyler Returns—And so does the Hyde

Last we saw him, sweet barista Tyler (Hunter Doohan) turned out to be the murderous Hyde. Now, he’s back—and from the glimpse of their reunion, things between him and Wednesday are as tense as ever.

The teaser hints at more than just unfinished business. Could Wednesday control Hyde this time? Can he be trusted again? Probably not—but it’s going to be fun finding out.

2. Wednesday as the Hyde’s Master?

One of the teaser’s darkest implications is that Wednesday may now control Hyde herself. Theories from season one hinted at this, but now it’s gaining traction. After subduing Hyde, could she have inherited some twisted form of mastery over it?

Combined with the debut of Grandmama—who may have arcane knowledge of the Hyde’s origins—this subplot could become the season’s most chilling twist.

1. Black Tears and a Book of Death

Could Enid’s fate be sealed in Wednesday season two? The teaser trailer has sparked major speculation, especially regarding a chilling moment featuring a mysterious book that repeatedly says "Black Tears." What's even more unsettling is that the tears depicted in the scene are red, not black.

This eerie sequence is accompanied by Morticia’s voice. Also, the hand seen in both instances bears her signature ring and nail polish, adding to the intrigue. Many fans are theorizing that this could be linked to a vision or premonition involving Enid’s death, especially considering the rumors about a gravestone bearing her name.

Is Enid really dead, or is this just another dark vision haunting Wednesday? With the teaser’s cryptic clues, we can't help but wonder if this shocking twist is just the beginning of more mysteries to come.

With a returning cast, major new characters, and chilling upgrades to Nevermore Academy, Wednesday season two promises to raise the stakes. As co-creator Miles Millar warns, “Nothing is what it seems… She thinks she’s going to be in control… and she doesn’t.” (via Tudum)

Stay tuned—because this semester at Nevermore might just be deadlier than the last.
