MacOS users who use 1Password will be disappointed to know that the latest version of the password management app will no longer offer its iconic auto-submission feature. 1Password released a breakdown of their latest update and revealed that they were forced to remove the feature because of a security update that was implemented with macOS Mojave.
The developers explained the change in an official update revealing that “We’re always keen to jump on anything that helps improve the security of our customers, so 1Password now runs within a hardened runtime. This “hardened runtime” ensures that 1Password cannot be manipulated or modified by other apps or processes running on your computer.”
“When 1Password automatically submits a password, it has no way of knowing whether it’s filling a password into a legitimate password field or something created by a nefarious website” — there’s no real need for a submit, a malicious site can read input value attribute https://t.co/6I3Apaf3HN

The previous version of the app allowed users to submit their login details without requiring any action at all. It was a very convenient means of accessing websites through secure passwords while not having to worry about remembering complex passwords. The app would leave the cursor/focus on the password field, which meant you simply needed to hit the enter key to log in. The new change requires you to manually login using the respective sign in / login button depending on what website you are accessing.
A major change that is coming to 1Password is that the password management app will now be built into Safari. You will no longer need an extension to access the app. Apple has already certified the app as safe and free from malware.
In addition to all the changes to how the app functions for Apple users, 1Password is also getting a Dark Mode. It is a long-requested feature that many users want on popular apps as they are much easier to use in low-lit conditions.
