The penultimate episode of 1923 season two delivered a brutal series of deaths and shocking twists, setting up a high-stakes finale. As tensions boiled over, several major characters met their end, altering the course of the Dutton family’s future.

Father Renaud Kills Marshal Kent In 1923 Season 2 Episode 6

The episode opened with a deadly confrontation. After Marshal Kent murdered Pete Plenty Clouds in the previous episode, Father Renaud realized Kent was a monster who reveled in slaughtering Native Americans. Though Renaud had initially sought Kent’s help in capturing Teonna, he couldn’t tolerate the marshal’s bloodlust any longer. Renaud shot Kent dead, marking a brutal turning point.

Jack Dutton’s Devastating Murder

Jacob Dutton warned that war would begin after winter, and episode six proved him right. Fearing Spencer’s arrival, Banner Creighton sought to eliminate him, but Clyde, a corrupt livestock agent, targeted Jack instead. Jack, believing Clyde to be an official Livestock Commissioner, let his guard down—only for Clyde to gun him down.

His body was likely disposed of, leaving the Duttons unaware of his fate. With Jack gone, Elizabeth could be pushed into despair, potentially leading to another tragedy. In an interview with People magazine, Darren Mann talked about his character's sudden death:

"It's so quick and fast. I think it's Taylor [Sheridan]'s genius in his character development and writing of the unfortunate circumstance of how it goes down for good old Jack when he was just so trusting in everybody in this world."

Teonna’s Bloody Revenge In 1923 Season 2 Episode 6

After discovering Pete’s lifeless body, Teonna and Runs His Horse returned home, thinking they were safe. But Father Renaud ambushed them, shooting Runs before turning his gun on Teonna. However, when his weapon jammed, Teonna seized the moment—stabbing Renaud and ultimately killing him. Now alone, Teonna faces a dangerous journey back to Crow territory. If she encounters Marshal Fossett, he may become an unexpected ally in her quest for safety.

Alexandra’s Journey Turns Deadly

On her way to reunite with Spencer, Alexandra accepted a ride with Paul and Hillary to Winnetka in 1923 season 2 episode 6. Their journey took a tragic turn when they ignored a gas station attendant’s warning and pressed on even during a deadly blizzard. By morning, Alex woke to find Hillary frozen to death and Paul missing, leaving her stranded in the snow. Her survival now hangs by a thread, with little hope of rescue unless fate intervenes.
